Studied at the RWTH Aachen (Masters in Economic Geography) and the University Hagen/RWTH Aachen (Master of Business Economics and Master of Economics). Main fields of study included economic spatial analysis, the promotion of economic development, production management and the labor market. PhD at RWTH Aachen in the field of economic spatial analysis with geographic information systems and complex, multivariate, statistical methods as well as analysis of old industrial regions in Germany, Poland and the US. In this context, also spent time as a visiting scholar at the University of Pittsburgh. At the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI since January 2012 as a scientific researcher in the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Markets. Since 2016 Professor for Renewable Energy Economics at the University for Applied Sciences of Bingen. Since 2018 co-managing director of Winkels/Pudlik GmbH an interdisciplinary consulting office for energy management and building services engineering.
Martin Pudlik´s scientific focuses are renewable energy potential modeling, policy analysis, economic development and economics. He contributed to several projects in the German, European, MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and Asian region focusing on potential analysis and policy implementation of renewable energy sources. Relevant projects in this context are Studies for the Desertec Industrial Initiative, the electricity market and renewable pilot study for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the ASEAN Energy Outlook 2015/2017.
