Bio

Manuel is a postdoctoral researcher in Robert Kostecki's group, working on understanding the materials challenges behind fast charging of lithium ion batteries so that electronics and electric vehicles can be charged in minutes, not hours. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Eng. degree in Materials Science from the University of Oxford, and previously studied the role of SiO2 coatings on the performance of high-capacity silicon anodes for lithium ion batteries. He also worked on high-efficiency solar cells, in particular tandem solar cells which combine multiple sub-cells tailored to different parts of the solar spectrum.
