BEST Center 2023 Presentations Available

January 17, 2023

Recordings for this year’s three-day workshop at the Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center are now available with registration.

The 2023 National Institute was co-hosted virtually by BEST and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) from January 4th to January 6th. This year’s theme was “Advancing Building Decarbonization: Policies, Technologies, and Workforce Education,” and the three days of virtual programming featured talks about new building performance policies, emerging technologies, and workforce education to aid in decarbonization.

Mary Ann Piette, Berkeley Lab’s interim associate laboratory director for the Energy Technologies Area (ETA), kicked off the second day with key strategies needed to decarbonize the buildings sector in her talk titled “Decarbonizing the Buildings Sector and Integrating with a Clean Grid.”

ETA researchers provided a deeper dive into specific decarbonization strategies, including Program Manager Joshua Kace and Senior Scientific Engineering Associate Travis Walter's talk on Building Performance Standards, Senior Scientific Engineer Nora Hart's talk on decarbonization audits in the buildings sector, and Interim Building Technology and Urban Systems Director Jessica Granderson's talk on self-correcting and optimized HVAC building controls.

To watch recordings from the 2023 Institute, fill out the registration form. Once registered, login to the Institute’s virtual hall for full access to the event and recordings.
