Diversity

The Energy Technologies Area is committed to fostering a workplace that embraces Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability (IDEA). We continue to build upon the previous and current efforts to ensure that diverse perspectives, experiences and backgrounds truly become integral elements of ETA’s scientific, technological and operational success.

We are engaged in ongoing efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive work environment and have been involved in a wide range of activities supporting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accountability within the Area. From the 2015 Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Flyby newsletters to forming the ETA D&I Working Group (WG) in 2017. Recently, the working group has increased membership and revitalized as the ETA IDEA Working Group. In 2020 the group created a charter and defined focus areas to which they develop and implement various IDEA -elated initiatives driven by the groups’ members. These activities have and continue to help make ETA an increasingly more safe, diverse, equitable and inclusive work and research environment.

The Area is exploring what more we can do to promote an intellectually and culturally rich work environment with the goal of leveraging our diverse perspectives and capabilities to ensure we continuously fuel creativity, innovation and discovery within ETA which is key to delivering the Berkeley Lab our mission of “Bringing Science Solutions to the World”.
