- This National Library of Medicine TOXNET site is a gateway for integrated
searches of any or all of the following databases: the Hazardous Substances
Data Bank (HSDB), the EPA's Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS),
the National Cancer Institute's Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information
System (CCRIS), and the EPA's Genetic Toxicology database (GENE-TOX).
- The U.S. EPA's Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) database provides
information on health effects that may result from exposure to various
substances found in the environment. The information in IRIS is intended
for those without extensive training in toxicology, but with some knowledge
of health sciences.
- The U.S. EPA Chemical registry system (CRS) provides information on
chemical substances and how they are represented in the EPA. Synonyms,
relevant regulations and other sources of information are given.
- The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry's (ATSDR), ToxFAQs
database is a series of summaries about hazardous substances. Information
for this series is excerpted from the ATSDR Toxicological Profiles and
Public Health Statements and is provided in quick and easy to understand
guides.
- This California Air Resources Board's Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) site
provides information on California's TAC identification program. Here
you will find an explanation of program, a listing of TACs, summaries
of health and exposure information for the substances on the TAC list,
and the executive summaries for specific substances.
- This California Air Resources Board site provides access to a quick
look-up table of all cancer potency values and noncancer acute and chronic
Reference Exposure Levels (RELs) that are available for use in the California
AB 2588 Air Toxics "Hot Spots" Program.
- This California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment document
contains reviews of the acute health effects for 51 chemical contaminants
and recommends acute Reference Exposure Levels (RELs) for each chemical
based on the most appropriate and sensitive adverse health effect.
- This California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment document
contains reviews of the noncancer chronic health effects for 78 chemical
contaminants and recommends chronic Reference Exposure Levels (RELs).
A chronic REL is an airborne level that would pose no significant health
risk to individuals indefinitely exposed to that level and is based
solely on health considerations.
- This California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment document
contains cancer unit risk factors for inhalation of chemical substances
whose emissions must be quantified under the California "Hot Spots"
Program.
